Biographical Note

Lenna E. Brown Baird was born in Shanghi, Illinois, Nov. 21, 1868, the child of Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Brown. She died at Spokane, Washington, Dec. 22, 1945. She married Thomas Wiley Brown, born Biggsville, Illinois, June 24, 1896, at Alexis, Illinois. In 1910, she moved to Spokane, Washington, where, among other activities, she was active in several civic groups, including the Red Cross Canteen during and after World War I.

The papers of Lenna Baird include office files from the Spokane, Washington, Red Cross Canteen, correspondence from servicemen, and photographs taken in both the United States and in Europe.
