Historical Note
A basic history of the College of Agriculture is included in the descriptive material that serves as a finding aid for the records maintained as Archives 15. (Those records emanate from the College of Agriculture also, but from from an earlier period.)
Content Description
The materials comprising this group of records are chiefly correspondence, mamoranda and reports kept by the office of the Dean of the College of Agriculture. Most materials date from about 1955 to about 1975, but many items from both earlier and later times do exist.
Arrangement
The subject files that constitute this sequence of records of the Dean of the Washington State University College of Agriculture are arranged in what are essentially artificial record series. These series were established by simply grouping folders with like headings, without much regard for ambiguities such as those arising from inconsistent use of synonymous terms such as "cooperative extension" and "extension service" in the original folder headings employed by office personnel. This practice was necessitated by the disruption of the original filing order and because there was no easy way to discern what the original order might have been.
While the grouping of like with like suffices to provide order to a significant part of the records, a large number of folders remained outside of system because they had unique headings. Accordingly, these have simply been arranged as a long series of alphabetical subject files.

Acquisition Information This sequence of records from the Dean of the College of Agriculture was transferred to the Washington State University Libraries in 1984 (UA84-14).
