Historical Note
The Oregon Student Branch of the American Society of Agricultural
Engineers was established at Oregon State College in the mid-1930s for
majors in agricultural engineering. The national organization is now known
as the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers.
Martin Hellickson, Associate Professor of Bioengineering served as
faculty advisor for the student branch after he joined the faculty of
Oregon State University in 1975. Hellickson retired in 2006.
Content Description
The American Society of Agricultural Engineers (ASAE) Oregon Student
Branch Records consist of materials generated and assembled by this
student student organization at Oregon State University. The records
include financial documents, certificates, constitutions and by-laws,
correspondence, meeting minutes, memberships lists, and publications that
document the activities and program of the organization. The
correspondence primarily pertains to scholarships and awards offered
through the branch and through the Department of Agricultural Engineering.
The publications consist of issues of the
ASAE National Student Journal published
annually at the time of the summer national student meeting. The
Journal includes annual summaries from
student branches, including Oregon State.
