Historical Note
The Washington State University Agricultural Research Center was begun as the Pullman Agricultural Experiment Station. Operations date from the opening of the institution in 1892. Initially located in in the region at the east end of the central campus, parts of the facility were displaced by university buildings beginning in about 1940. Over time operations were moved eastward and to land that not adjacent to the campus. The University also operates several other experiment stations and research centers at points about the state.
A more complete history is found in the descriptive inventory for Archives 20, the main records of the Experiment Station.
