Historical Note

This is an artificial collection of photographs gathered from a variety of sources and placed into files by subject. A number the images were originally part of the University of Montana's Northwest History Collection (the precursor the Archives) and most were donated to the University prior to the 1980s. A number of the images were likely removed from related manuscript collections at the time of their donation. In most cases the provenance of the images as well as the photographer are unknown.

Content Description

The majority of the images in this collection are of individuals from Montana and locations in Montana. A small number of the images are actually photographs of paintings, newspaper articles and documents. The number of items in a folder can range from one to several dozen.
