Biographical Note

Edward Franklin Sox was a merchant in Albany, Oregon, associated with the Stewart and Sox Hardware Company and the Linn County Orchard Colony. Carlton E. Sox, his son, was an attorney with Hewitt and Sox of Albany, Oregon.

Content Description

The papers include miscellaneous legal and personal documents of Albany, Oregon merchant Edward Franklin Sox and of his son, Carlton Edward Sox, an attorny in Albany, Oregon.

The business records in the collection reflect the Stewart and Sox hardware company and the Linn County Orchard colony (1910-1913); the legal records are those of Carlton Sox and reflect the legal case of missionary W. A. Matthews at Warm Springs Indian reservation (1925) and other cases; also included are materials concerning the United Presybyterian church, Albany, Oregon (1930).
