Overview of the Collection
Historical NoteThe University Archives was established at Oregon State University in 1961 as a department of the Library. From the early 1970s until 2000, the Archives was part of the OSU central administration. In 2000, the Archives became a department of the University Libraries and moved into the Valley Library in 2003. Content DescriptionThe University Archives Videotapes consist of two VHS videotape recordings of television news reports about the Archives and one VHS videotape prepared by the Archives for University Day in 1994. One of the television news reports (FV P169:1) is about vandalism at the OSU Mink Research Center and the subsequent records recovery operation by OSU Archives staff in June 1991. It includes footage of University Archivist, Michael Holland. The second news report (FV P169:2), broadcast in December 1991 by KEZI-TV in Eugene, Oregon, features the donation of the Oregon State Yank Collection to the Archives. It includes footage of Larry Landis and Elizabeth Nielsen. A Sampler of Motion Picture Films and Video Holdings of the OSU Archives was prepared for viewing in the Archives' display at University Day in 1994. It includes duplicates of a selection of films and videotapes: The Old Grad Comes Back, 1925; 1942 Rose Bowl pre-Game activities; This is Oregon State, 1958; the Oregon State College/University name change ceremony in 1961; and several Agricultural Experiment Station television public service announcements from 1985.
