Overview of the Collection
Biographical NotePitts Elmore, from Santa Maria California, attended Oregon Agricultural College from 1920 until 1925, with a break in 1924 due to illness. He earned a BS in Electrical Engineering. Elmore was an avid campus photographer and was Assistant Editor of the 1924 Beaver yearbook. Many of his photos were published in the 1923, 1924, and 1925 editions of the Beaver. He lived in California after graduation. Elmore was born in Kansas City Missouri on January 29, 1903 and died in Las Vegas, Nevada on March 4, 1994. Content DescriptionThe Pitts Elmore Photographs consist of four images of campus scenes and buildings. They include the Trysting Tree, the entrance to Waldo Hall, and the entrance to Apperson (now Kearney) Hall -- all taken in the spring of 1922. An image of the front of Apperson Hall after a snowstorm in the winter of 1921-1922 is also included. Several duplicate prints of the Trysting Tree image (made in the 1980s or 1990s) are part of this collection.
