The William and Stella LaLande Williams Collection consists of personal and business correspondence, deeds and leases. This collection, which dates from 1845 through 1966, also contains financial documents, newspaper clippings, recipes, and estate papers. Records from the W.P. Williams insurance agency are included, as are materials from his Masonic affiliation and involvement in community affairs. Also included are photographs and postcards, albums, cameras and film.
Biographical NoteReturn to Top
William (Bill) Pierce Williams was born in Wales on December 27, 1885. He immigrated to the United States in 1903, and Walla Walla in 1910, where he met and married Stella Ophelia (Devin) LaLande. Stella was born in Umatilla, Oregon on November 5, 1884. Williams was an insurance agent in Walla Walla, and was an active member of the Walla Walla masonic lodge, the Washington Knights of Templar, and the El Katif Shriners temple of Spokane. He died on May 21, 1943, and Stella died on October 16, 1970.
