Irwin Leonard Betzel graduated from Oregon Agricultural College in 1915
with a BS degree in Pharmacy. While an OAC student, Betzel was a member of the
Oxford Club, participated in intramural (class) football and drama productions,
and served as business manager of the
C-P Journal and as assistant manager of the
1915
Orange during 1913/14. In September 1915, he
was appointed Instructor in Pharmacy, a position he held until he was excused
for war duty in 1918. After the war, he served as a drug company representative
in Portland and later as a pharmacist in Eugene.
The scrapbooks include photographs, primarily of students and student
activities, and memorabilia, such as programs, clippings, certificates and
grade reports, dance cards, invitations, and OAC Pharmacy labels. The
photograph album includes predominately portraits of students, in addition to
images of student groups and the Oxford Club. The scrapbooks and album include
numerous images of Betzel, Florence Knight, Oxford Club members, activities,
and house (exterior and interior), and pharmacy groups and trips. Many of the
images are identified.
