Historical NoteA cadet band formed at Oregon Agricultural College (now OSU) in 1891. The OSU Marching Band was eliminated for several years in the early 1990s due to budget cuts. James Douglass served as Director of Bands from 1969 until his retirement in 1999. Content DescriptionThe Oregon State University Bands Motion Picture Films and Videotapes consist of recordings of OSU Marching Band shows at OSU football games and a 1979 Oakland Raider football game as well as a 1991 interview with James Douglass about the elimination of the marching band. The videotapes include VHS videocassetes and 1/2" open reel-to-reel videotape; the films are 16 mm color. Use of the Collection
