Biographical Note

Helen Bratton wrote novels for teenage girls. She was born in Albany, New York on July 17, 1899. In 1918, she attended Albany Business College. She also studied art at Washington University in St. Louis, MO for four years. Bratton worked as a Civil Service employee and court reporter before her marriage to George S. Bratton on September 27, 1923. She began her writing career later in her life, and her initial effort for a novel, It's Morning Again, was sold on the first try.

Bratton was chosen poet laureate of Monterey Peninsula in 1962. Towards the end of her life, she was attending classes seven hours a week; she admits that she "became addicted to education" while her children were in school.
