Biographical NoteAlta McCormick was the wife of Cyrus Ross McCormick. Cyrus Ross McCormick, from Lebanon, Oregon, graduated from Oregon Agricultural College (OAC) in 1906 with a BS in Mining. After graduation, he worked briefly as an Assistant Assayer in Carson City, Nevada. By 1909, he had returned to Lebanon and was a farmer and cattleman. John R. McCormick, also from Lebanon, graduated from OAC in 1905. In 1931, he was a building contractor in Portland. John and Cyrus may be brothers. Content DescriptionThe Alta McCormick Photograph Collection consists of four photographic prints assembled by McCormick. Three of the images depict groups of Oregon Agricultural College students in 1905-1906; these include a group of men students (with faculty?)in front of Benton Hall, a group of military cadets, and members of Philadelphian Literary Society. Cyrus McCormick is identified in the literary society photograph. The fourth image is of the 25th reunion of the Class of 1906 in 1931, taken on the steps of the Memorial Union. It includes Cyrus Ross McCormick and his wife Alta. John R. McCormick is also depicted in the photograph. This photograph was published in the July 1931 issue of the Oregon State Monthly alumni magazine; it was taken by Howells Studio. Use of the Collection
