Overview of the Collection
Biographical NoteWalter Edmund Morris, originally from Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania, attended Oregon Agricultural College for four academic years, from 1908-1909 through 1911-1912. He graduated in 1912 with a BS in Commerce and was a member of Delta Omega fraternity. Morris gave the senior class oration, The Senior's Benediction, at the Senior Convocation during Commencement Week in 1912. After graduation, Morris returned to Pennsylvania and worked as an attorney in Punxsutawney. Delta Omega was established as a local fraternity at Oregon Agricultural College in 1910 and later became a chapter of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon national fraternity. Content DescriptionThe Walter E. Morris Collection consists of four photographic postcards of Oregon Agricultural College (OAC) students collected by Morris during his student years at OAC. The images include the bandstand dedication in 1910; the OAC football squad in 1911; the sophomore football team for 1909; and members of the Delta Omega fraternity. The image of the sophomore football team for 1909 was published in the 1911 Orange yearbook (p. 215). The Delta Omega fraternity photograph shows the group on the front steps of the fraternity's first house at 1353 Monroe Street. Use of the Collection
