Historical NoteReturn to Top
Seymour E. Moon was born in Villard, Minnesota and educated at Newton Theological Seminary. He went to the Congo in 1903 as missionary for the American Baptist Foreign Mission Society. In 1908 he was one of the founders of the United Congo Evangelical Training Institute, later called the Ecole de Pasteur et d'Instituteur, at Kimpese. Three years later he was named principal of the Institute, a position he held to 1931. His final term in the Congo, 1932-1937, was as an itinerant missionary. His wife Sarah E. Moon (1873-1950) was a missionary teacher.
