Historical Note

The Ankcorn Hardware Company, operator of a retail hardware store at Palouse, Washington, was organized by Mr. Fred Ankcorn in about 1905. Prior to that time Mr. Ankcorn had been employed by a predecessor firm. The business has remained in the Ankcorn family since that time.

Content Description

The records consist of bills and invoices for merchandise bought from various wholesalers, and of carbon-copy records of customers' bills for merchandise sold. The records begin about 1920 and proceed to the mid-1950s with various interruptions.

Mrs. Anita Ankcorn donated the firm's records to the Washington State University Library in 1976.
