Overview of the Collection
Historical NoteKBVR-FM, the student-operated campus radio station, began broadcasting in 1965 as a 10-watt station. In January 1967, KBVR television began broadcasting for several hours one or two evenings per week, on the closed circuit television system used during the day for classroom television. Both the radio and television stations were originally located in Shepard Hall, but moved to the Memorial Union East when that facility was completed in 1977. KBVR radio and television are funded and administered through the Memorial Union and Student Activities as one of the components of Student Media. The KOAC broadcast of the 1980 OSU commencement ceremony was the 54th consecutive broadcast, the 23rd by television, and the 7th in color. Content DescriptionThe KBVR Videotapes consist of three items. One videotape (FV P 170:1) is a recording a 2-minute news story about the OSU Archives that was broadcast on KBVR in February 1980.
